My journey into software engineering began long before I ever touched a keyboard. Growing up across the United States, from Maine to Hawaii, I learned early how to connect with people from all walks of life. I was curious, adventurous, and constantly building with my hands. Inspired by the Crocodile Hunter, I spent hours outside with friends sketching fort designs, planning search methods to find different species, and organizing teams to bring our ideas to life. It was my first taste of designing systems, solving problems, and turning imagination into something real.
That creative spark carried into high school, where I joined a club that needed an online presence. With no prior experience, I dove headfirst into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Watching my teammate bring pages to life ignited something in me. Suddenly, I realized that code was another way to build, only this time it was digital instead of physical. I started experimenting, teaching myself, and dreaming bigger with every project. That discovery changed how I viewed technology and set me on a path of continuous learning.
In college, I started creating sites for friends and family and gradually took on freelance work. Each project was an opportunity to translate a client’s vision into a digital experience, whether it was the elegant aesthetic of an interior design firm or the bold energy of an urban entertainment company. These early experiences taught me how to listen closely, identify problems, and deliver professional solutions.
Today, I’m a Senior Software Engineer at Liongard, where I lead a team of eight engineers. My work combines technical execution with cross-functional leadership. Recently, I helped guide a major overhaul of our pricing and packaging strategy. The challenge demanded coordination across product, marketing, revenue, and Salesforce teams, along with hands-on implementation across the stack. With tight deadlines and high stakes, I stepped in to not only lead development but also organize, delegate, and align teams on shared goals. We delivered successfully, and through it all I made it a priority to support my engineers by listening to their concerns and helping them grow even while the company was navigating change.
Looking back, the same traits that drove me as a kid, curiosity, creativity, and persistence, still guide me today. I have always been fascinated by building things, solving complex problems, and connecting with people. Software engineering is the craft where those passions intersect, and it continues to push me to grow, adapt, and imagine what is possible.
